Why do some Nakshatras share one star group?
Classically, several Nakshatras span more than one star (e.g. Krittika is the Pleiades cluster). This tool points to each Nakshatra's single brightest, most commonly cited star.
Why can't I see a star even though it's above the horizon?
During the day, or in twilight, sunlight outshines the stars even though they're technically above the horizon - check the day/night banner above the results.
What do "altitude" and "direction" mean?
Altitude is how many degrees above the horizon a star sits - 0° is right at the horizon, 90° is straight overhead. Direction is the compass bearing to face - e.g. "East" means look toward the eastern horizon, then follow that altitude upward from there.
